MASTERCLASSES    PRACTICE EXCHANGE    DEVISING

The London Devised Theatre Intensive is a two-week workshop for theatre makers to share and expand their practice of devising theatre. The programme is a mix of masterclasses from guest artists, peer practice exchange, devising, and professional development.

The Intensive aims to inspire theatre makers, raise the profile of devised theatre,

and foster international connections.

We envision this year's Devised Theatre Intensive as the launch of an annual programme that will take place in London, elsewhere in the UK, and in cities around the world.

"I love devising theatre because you get to play with all the theatrical toys straightaway.
It’s like using a very complicated piece of equipment without reading the instructions first."

"For years, I dreamed of the day someone would walk up to me and finally say,
'Your art is amazing, and I want to help you share it with the world, so you can focus on what you do best: the art.'
And then I met Laura Lundy, and that's just what she said! That kind of authentic support is priceless."

THE WORKSHOP
THE PRODUCERS
The London Devised Theatre Intensive welcomes theatre makers in any discipline: directors, writers, performers, choreographers, composers, designers and others. Each attending theatre maker will have the opportunity to share their favourite devising techniques, and add new ones to their creative toolbox. Over the course of two weeks, small groups will devise short pieces to be shared in an informal setting at the end of the programme.

We will also arrange three theatre trips to see devised performances in London. Blue Panther Productions' excutive producer Laura Lundy will deliver a talk 'Get Visible and Get Produced', and we invite you to raise a glass at our New Work Happy Hour on the final day of the Intensive.

The workshop will run using Open Space Technology. A radical alternative to the traditional theatre model, Open Space creates an anti-hierarchical environment for rapid generation of ideas and shared ownership of the work.

The London Devised Theatre Intensive is a programme of Amy Clare Tasker Performance Lab, in partnership with Blue Panther Productions. The Intensive will be facilitated by artistic director Amy Clare Tasker.

Amy Clare Tasker Performance Lab works with actors, dancers, musicians, installation designers, and visual artists to create interdisciplinary performances, aiming to awaken curiosity and encourage empathy. They work with a diverse ensemble of artists from different cultural and creative backgrounds focusing on cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Blue Panther Productions works with playwrights and theatre companies to increase visibility and reach national and international production goals faster and at greater levels of success. Executive Producer Laura Lundy will lead the professional development strand of the London Devised Theatre Intensive.

"Using Open Space as a method for devising was exhilarating.
We worked as an ensemble from day one and everyone's ideas were really heard and considered."

Sharlit Deyzac, performer, Home Is Where directed by Amy Clare Tasker
